4:00 PM - 4:50 PM
Are you a dreamer? Does it always seem like your head is in the clouds (or some distant, faraway land)? Your imagination will have the perfect outlet in our creative writing class! This course is designed to encourage self expression and creative freedom for teens, 6th-12th grades, who may not have had the chance to experiment with writing fiction or poetry before. Not only will students learn how to use writing techniques like dialogue, plot charting, imagery, characterization, and more, but they will get the opportunity to try these techniques out in their own stories. In this class, there will be space for independent writing time with an instructor nearby for support, as well as guided group writing activities, games, and experiential projects. Students are encouraged to try new writing styles, develop their own voice, begin fleshing out longer stories, and learn to visualize their stories in unique ways. Writing is an act of self expression that is vulnerable, but when shared with a community of other learning writers, you can build confidence, skill, and perhaps lifelong writing buddies!
Please note: there will be No Group Piano Classes during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks.
